Liverpool recycling centre or a collection: which should you use?

Published

Liverpool's household recycling centres are the cheapest option if you have a few bags and a car. Once you have bulky furniture, a van load, or any business waste, a licensed collection is usually easier, because recycling centres restrict van and trailer access and do not take trade waste.

What to check before going to the tip

  • Opening times and any booking rules on Liverpool Council's website.
  • Whether you need a permit to arrive in a van or with a trailer.
  • That your waste is household waste; business waste cannot go through a household recycling centre.
  • How many trips you will need for bulky items like sofas, wardrobes or mattresses.

When a collection makes more sense

If you do not have a van, cannot lift heavy items, are clearing for a landlord or business, or simply do not want several trips, we collect from inside the property and take everything to licensed sites. Over 95% of what we collect is reused or recycled, and you get a waste transfer note.

What it costs

Collections start for a Mini Load, with a full price list on our prices page. We are based in Liverpool and cover all of Liverpool 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
